Benefits for your Dependants

What type of benefits are available to my dependants?

There are two types of benefit that the Plan may pay to your spouse (or Civil Partner):

  • A lump sum (the recipient of this will be decided at the discretion of the Trustee)
  • A continuing pension that is a proportion of your pension

Both of these benefits depend upon your membership status within the Plan at the date of death and are based on your reckonable service.

If you are also a member of the SPPP on death before retirement, your accumulated fund will be paid to your Dependants.

If you have purchased added years your reckonable service will be enhanced for family benefits by the full amount of the added years you have arranged to purchase under such an agreement.

Will my benefits have a minimum benefit guarantee?

If you die after retirement a lump sum of 5 times your pension, less the pension and lump sum payments already received by the date of your death, will be paid.
